A liquid (X) boiled in a micro-boiler emits vapor (Y) in equilibrium. A total condenser returns this steam in the boiler, condensed and hot, under atmospheric pressure: the balance is perfect. The ebulliometer is equivalent to a perfect unitary tray; it thus makes it possible to maintain this liquid-vapor equilibrium and to sample the equilibrium phases by gas-tight micro-syringes.
