The smoke is produced by pumping the power plant to a nozzle (by a peristaltic pump to provide an adjustable and constant flow) of a medical grade, nontoxic oil.
The tip of the probe, the nozzle, is heated (90W) by a coil powered by a low voltage current. This produces a smoke brush at the end of the probe. The size of the probe is minimized to reduce disturbances in the air stream. A 5m smoke beam can be produced.
