The SAN312 Buckling Apparatus is designed to study the critical buckling loads of straight beams based on their slenderness and boundary conditions.
The experimental setup allows the study of beams of between 400 and 800 mm in length. The beams are of rectangular section and deform in their mid-plane.
Boundary conditions are ensured by removable connecting blocks that allow to have the following configurations :
The load is applied to the beam via a loading beam and a dynamometer. The loading beam is mounted on a hinge, whose position can be adjusted to maintain the horizontal beam, so that the direction of the applied load remains vertical for the duration of the handling. A very low lateral load is applied to the beam to impose the direction of the arrow measured by a comparator. A set of beams and a set of accessories for different boundary conditions are delivered with the device.
