A fluid circulating in a pipe circuit is subjected to a frictional force which causes a loss of energy and thus a total pressure drop. The pressure drop varies according to the resistances which the fluid meets. The regular pressure losses due to friction on the walls of the pipes can be distinguished from the losses caused by the individual resistances of elements in the circuit. (Elbows, valves...).


The bench for the study of fluid dynamics MP75 AM2, makes it possible to quantify the various head losses due to the principal elements met in an installation of piping. The transparency of some piping systems and the pressure reducing orifices makes it possible to visualize the flows perfectly as well as the visualization of the laminar and turbulent flow modes.

This bench makes it possible to study the principal elements of a piping installation and to measure the pressure losses generated by these elements. This bench is composed of industrial elements placed on a frame. It functions in closed loop by means of a pump and a storage tank. It is self - contained, requiring only a suitable power supply.  A complete instrumentation is provided with the bench for the measurement of the pressures upstream and downstream of each element and thus for the determination of the pressure losses, the flow measured by the pressure reducing orifices and coefficient Cv of the valves.

-Study of the principal elements in a piping installation

-Measurement of pressure losses generated by these various elements by means of a differential pressure transmitter

-Visualization of the flows in the pressure reducing pipes and orifices

-Observation of the laminar and turbulent flow
