This unit can simulate faults that may occur on refrigerating, caused either by electrical fault or by hydraulic malfunction.

MP2030

This unit is equipped with casters, mounted on a painted and epoxy-treated steel structure, and was designed with a ergonomic design.

It comprises:

  • A large printed synoptic panel reproducing the circuits as a whole

  • A refrigerating circuit equipped with a compressor

  • A system to introduce breakdowns, equipped with lights, switches and controls

  • Variable current and voltage circuits

  • A data collection system equipped with corresponding instruments

 

Teaching objectives

This unit enables the study and analysis of the following topics:

  1. Faults on the compressor valve

  2. Faults on the oil separator

  3. Faults due to excessive coolant

  4. Faults due to lack of coolant

  5. Total blockage of coolant going to the evaporator

  6. Broken regulator

  7. Obstructed dehydrator

  8. Condensation pressure too high

  9. Suction pressure too high

  10. Suction pressure too low

  11. Electric motor phase cut off

  12. Both motor phases cut off

  13. Defective refrigerating thermostat

  14. Defective freezing thermostat

  15. Defective trip coil

  16. Defective thermal protection of compressor

  17. Defective run capacitor

  18. Techniques for mounting/dismounting and connecting the different components

  19. Quality control of components.

  • Condenser, fluid indicator, filters, evaporator with thermal load, thermostatic valve, oil separator

  • Set of electrical instruments, all class 1.5, comprising: 1 voltmeter, 1 ammeter, 1 wattmeter, 1 COS(Φ) meter, 1 ohmmeter, 1 capacitance meter

  • Flowmeter for coolants

  • Electronic thermometers with PTC sensors

  • Complete set of components for running a training programme, comprising thermostats, pressure switches, time delay relays, thermal and capacity protection systems

  • 20 switches for introducing breakdowns in the installation. Breakdowns in the hydraulic part are introduced by activating control valves, while electrical breakdowns are introduced by activating relays.
